My Journey with SpiceJet: Manoj Kumar
My name is Manoj Kumar. I was born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh, where my dreams took root early. As a child, I always had a deep fascination for machines and how they worked. I used to open up old gadgets at home, trying to understand the wiring and circuits. While others my age dreamt of becoming cricketers or actors, I dreamt of becoming someone who could bring light into people’s lives, quite literally.
I have also been a passionate cricket lover. The teamwork, discipline and focus required in cricket always inspired me and I have tried to bring that same energy into my professional life.
The Beginning of My Journey
In 2010, I joined SpiceJet. I still remember my first day—it was a mix of excitement and nervousness. But I was determined to give it my best. I joined as part of the electrical team and took every small task seriously. Whether it was fixing a faulty connection or maintaining office lighting systems, I knew every job mattered.
Over the years, I learned the value of consistency, discipline and hard work. I made it a point to upgrade my skills, stay updated with safety protocols and always deliver with a smile.
Fifteen years have gone by and today I proudly serve as the Senior Electrician, managing day-to-day electrical operations and administration. This journey has been full of learning:
• I’ve handled critical airport infrastructure requirements during peak operations
• I’ve worked through extreme weather and tough shifts to ensure smooth services
• I’ve trained junior staff and passed on what I’ve learned over the years
• I’ve built a strong sense of teamwork and respect for every department
Each challenge shaped me not just as a technician, but also as a professional and a person.
SpiceJet has been more than just a workplace. It has been a platform where I was given the chance to grow, learn and contribute. I have seen the airline navigate through changes, face challenges head-on and continue to fly high. Being a part of this journey fills me with pride.
What I appreciate most is that SpiceJet recognizes the efforts of every employee, no matter their department or role. And today, I am thankful for this opportunity to share my story with all of you.
I remain deeply grateful to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far—my mentors, colleagues and the leadership team. I look forward to many more years with this organization, where I will continue to work with dedication, learn with humility and serve with pride.
